Course Objectives
This course is designed to meet the Integrated Math III Common Core State Standards preparing you for Pre-Calculus.
Classroom Procedures
Attendance: Regular attendance is absolutely necessary for you to succeed in this course. I look forward to seeing and working with each and every one of you daily. If you have to be absent, it is your responsibility to get any notes and work that you missed on your own time. There will be a copy of the lesson and notes along with a video by the end of each day put on the calendar. It is up to you to keep up, check this to get notes, try the homework and finally come in, get help if needed before you get severely behind.
Late work:
*All LATE WORK must be done in full and will only be accepted before the test of that material to receive full credit, after that you will only receive half credit.
Tardies: My class begins when the bell rings. When you walk in the door there will be a quiz to start on immediately. I ask that you please come to class prepared with a writing utensil, your notebook, and your homework. Furthermore, all of these things need to be out and you need to be on task when the bell rings or I will be forced to mark you tardy. Tardies will be handled according to the school rules.
Behavior: BE OF GOOD CHARACTER. I plan on treating each one of you with all the respect that I truly believe you deserve and I expect nothing less in return. That means respect for yourself, your peers, your school, your classroom, and your teacher. I ask that you please come into my class in a respectful manner and leave the same way. Please be prepared, listen actively, participate willingly and behave in a manner appropriate to our learning environment. If you are in anyway disrespectful anywhere near my classroom you will be dealt with accordingly:
1st and 2nd violations = warnings- Put into Aries. 3rd violation = IC. Parents notified
4th violation = parents notified. 5th violation = referral and parents notified.
6th violation = parents notified that next is a class suspension.
7th violation = class suspension, parents notified.
8th violation = 2 day class suspension, parents notified. 9th violation = removal from class.
I truly hope that we never get passed violation #2. I am here to help you become successful in Integrated Math 3. Please do not make me have to go past step 2.
Chromebook Rules
Chromebooks will be used a few days a week. Please bring it to class everyday, charged and pull it out 1st thing when coming into my room. If you do not bring it, you are still responsible for the work we did on it in class.
I expect all of you to stay on task. Especially when we are using the chromebooks in class. Please do not put the entire class behind due to not being on task. We will all wait for everyone to finish the task asked in a timely manner. If you are on any other site, then you are not getting your work done, bottom line. Being on other websites when you are supposed to be working will result in me closing your chromebook and you doing your work using paper and pencil. The one thing I will ask of you everyday is for you to show me before you leave what you understand and know about the concept I am teaching you. I need to know how to help you the next day and this is how I will know.
Grading Policy
All work will be given a point value. For in class participation I give points to those doing the right thing, writing notes, working on the whiteboards respectfully, and so on. You will also be required to have a notebook for your notes and any work that you do. There will be homework assigned pretty much everyday. If you pay attention in class and are working in class, the assignments should not take more than 15-20 minutes a night. Also on some days you will have class time to begin the homework. There will be quizzes and tests regularly (every other week). All of this will be weighted accordingly:
Tests/PERFORMANCE TASKS are worth 65% of your grade.
Homework/classwork is worth 25% of your grade.
Mathia 10% of your grade.
Grades will be given as follows:
A+ 98 – 100 A 94 - 97 A- 90 – 93 B+ 87 – 89 B 83 – 86 B- 80 – 82
C+ 77 – 79 C 73 – 76 C- 70 – 72 D+ 67 – 69 D 63 – 66 D- 60 – 62 F 0 – 59.
Materials
1. Three-ring binder for notes and work to be kept in. A spiral notebook is fine.
2. Something to write with. I would prefer all work be done in pencil. I do need to be able to read your work, so please use a color of ink that I can see.
3. It is important that you at least have a scientific calculator. Phones will not be allowed to be used on tests, so it’s best to bring and use the calculator you will use on a test.
Note: Failure to bring your materials will mean that you are not prepared for the class.
Math Dept Policies Homework NO work. NO credit. I give points based on completion, not correct answers, so please try every problem. There is no penalty for wrong answers.
Tutorial I make myself available at lunch everyday. Before or after school is upon request. To help you with homework, to take or retake a test (half credit) or to catch up if needed.
